Didihat Tourism
Didihat is a beautiful
town as well as a nagar panchayat which is situated in Pithoragarh district in
the state of Uttarakhand in India.
This town has been named after the Kumauni language word 'Dand' that signified
a small hillock. History says that it was ruled by feudal Raika Malla kings of the
Sirakot region. In the 1449 AD this area came under the rule of the Chand
dynasty. Travelers can see the remnants of the temples and ancient forts to get
the narration of this historical tale. You must explore the Askot Musk Deer
Sanctuary which is located in the Didihat Tehsil administratively.
You will have bright
and clear site of the Himalayan snow capped peaks from this place, especially
from the Panchachuli and Trishuli. This town is really popular for its ancient Shirakot Temple dedicated to Lord Malay Nath
(Lord Shiva). This temple was constructed under the orders of Raika Kings. When
you will drive 10 km from this temple, you will reach Narayan Swamy Ashram situated
at Narayan Nager. Another awesome place to admire in this town of Didihat is the Didihat
falls which is located on the pilgrimage route to Kailash Mansarovar. Take out time
for these places.
Didihat is actually a
charming and a deep Himalayan tourist destination which is located at a
distance of 54 km from Pithoragarh and at an altitude of 1,725 meters above
mean sea level. It is a small hilly town which is full of pure and natural
beauty having flora of lush green variety. Below the town you will find a fertile
'Haat Valley'. There is one more temple which is located in the top hill of the
Nanpaupu village. This temple is known as Dechula. On a drive of 53km from this
town, you will reach another small hilly town known as Berinag which is popular
for its nag mandirs.
There is also a small
tea garden. You must also view a cave situated near by called by the name of
"Pataal Bhuwneshwar". It is related to "Pandavas"
dwaparyug. Askot Sanctuary is situated near by where you can see monals, bharals,
chirs, phesants, snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, koklas, musk deers, chukors,
snow cocks, and tahra. There are so many things to admire and sooth your eyes. Tourists
love to explore this place for one or the other reason. You must get the best
trip around with your family and friends.
