Uttarakhand to Merge GMVN, KWVN to Boost Tourism
In order to boost the tourism industry,
last week the Uttarakhand government made a decision to merge the Garhwal
Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) with the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN). It has to
be merged under a one single unit for the enhancement of the state tourism. This
wonderful decision has been taken in the review meeting of the Tourism
Department. This meeting was chaired by the state’s chief minister Vijay
Bahuguna according to the present PTI report. This important tourism meeting
was also attended by the Minister of Tourism and the Chief Secretary of
Uttarakhand, Amrita Rawat and Alok Kumar Jain respectively.
Bhuguna said that a single entity will
definitely ensure one single brand for the tourism of this beautiful state. It
will be able to increase the popularity of Uttarakhand for sure. It is an emphasizing task as well as an
important requirement for simplifying the procedure of the investment. This way
more number of investors can be encouraged who want to invest in this tourism
sector. Information that was given by Bahuguna was that a tender available for
the ropeways at the Purnagiri-Chulighat and Yamunotri-Jankichatti have already
been received. On the other side, 16 more places have been well identified for
the presence of ropeways.
Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) and the
Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) have been assigned with the job of the
promotion of the tourism in several different parts of the state of
Uttarakhand. The reference has been given to the pathetic appearance of the guest
houses in both the corporations that are GMVN and KMVN. The chief minister has directed
the officers for considering the model of the public-private partnership in
order to under take the renovation process in a better way and also to bring
the proposal at the Cabinet. He has also announced that the officers must maintain
the hygienic standard of the tourist places and areas. It has been instructed
to opt for the construction of the bio-degradable toilets on the route of the
Kedarnath.
For the construction of the lavatories on
to the Char Dham routes, the meeting has finalized the proposal of the complete
budget of about Rs 24 crore and that also at every 10 to 15 kilometers. The
chief minister of Uttarakhand has also stated that the proposal of the Eco
Tourism Board must also be brought. This proposal has been given under the
Tourism Department.
