Jim Corbett National Park

Corbett National Park is famous for it’s wild population of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. It is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in the closest proximity of Ramnagar (Nainital). Corbett national park was established in 1936, as the Hailey National Park. After independence, it’s name changed to Ramganga National Park in 1952, but finally it’s changed to Jim Corbett National Park in 1957. It’s India’s first National Park, with the help of World Wildlife Fund, Project Tigers was launched in this Park in 1973 & it was one of the first tiger reserves in India.

Major Wildlife Attractions - Corbett National Park

Corbett is a haven for Tigers as well as its prey, Leopards are mostly found in the hilly areas of the park.. Some nocturnal cats found here are the Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat and Fishing Cat. The Dole or Wild Dog, though they can be seen in the southern areas of the park along with the Jackal. Elephants are main attraction of the Jim Corbett Park..

Best Time to Visit - Jim Corbett National Park


The best time to visit to Jim Corbett  National Park is November 15 to June 15. The Park closed between June 16 to November 14, when the monsoons flood the river beds and cut the fragile road links.

How to Reach

It is well connected to all major cities of India. The distance is around 300 Km. from Delhi, 51 Km. from Ram Nagar direct buses are available from Delhi. Pant Nagar at a distance of 50-kms is the nearest airport.

Great informaiton. I can see since last few years lots off websites, blogs and forums are coming up about Uttarakhand and the people who are looking for travel destinations are getting benefit out of it.

These website will definitely give a boost to Uttaranchal tourism.
